MOVIE SYNOPSIS

In last 10 years 160.000 farmers have committed suicide in India due to agriculture policy designed by our own Govt. Actually this is a story of betrayal ship as Govt. of India is intoxicated with their dreams of making the cities high tech and as usual farmers are paying the price for this urbanization. This is an investigating journey based 72 minutes film to study and understand why farmers are still committing suicide when India is called ‘fastest growing economy’ in the world. Although agriculture forms the backbone of India’s economy, the farming community has remained by and large deprived and exploited. Every Govt. that has ruled India has found it beneficial to keep the industrialists happy. The double standard has eventually created two Indias- those who are a part of shinning India and those left out of it. So one hand some Indians figure among the riches of the world and on the other hand some Indians buckle under the burden of debts and are compelled to take their own lives. A new phase of exploitation has started when Indian economy was first liberalized in the year of 1991. Since then, in the name of globalization the multinational dealers and Indian manufacturers has taken the complete control of unrestricted cash crop market and as a result industry reaped the benefit of it at the expense of the farmers who is now lining up with bottles of pesticide in their hand – not to spray in the fields but to pour in their throats. Ironically the agriculture minister of India is busy patronizing the cricketers when the farmers are continuing to die at an average of 48 in a day – or one death every half an hour!
